Katushca "Kathy" Grass, a native of Bolivia, relocated to the United States at the age of 14 with her family in search of better opportunities. She pursued her higher education at Florida International University, where she obtained her Bachelor's degree. Kathy furthered her legal studies at St. Thomas University, School of Law, and earned her Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.


Post-graduation, Kathy briefly ventured into insurance defense before transitioning into the realm of Family Law. Her skills and passion for this field quickly made her a successful litigator, where she vigorously represented clients in their family law disputes. After gaining valuable experience at a family law firm, she finally decided and founded her own practice. This venture continued until 2023 when she joined forces with her protégé and partner, Carolyn Reyes, to establish Grass | Reyes & Associates.


In addition to her robust defense of parties in family law cases, Kathy has been appointed by judges in countless cases to fulfill the role of a Guardian Ad Litem for minor children involved in family cases. Her exceptional service in this role was recognized in 2022 when she was bestowed with the Ray H. Pearson Guardian Ad Litem Award presented by Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida.


Kathy is also an accredited Supreme Court Family Law Mediator and derives satisfaction from mediating family cases.


She, along with her team, are proficient in Spanish, ensuring they can cater to a diverse client base.

Carolyn A. Reyes, Esq.

Attorney
Managing Partner

Carolyn Reyes is a graduate of Florida International University, where she obtained her Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in Psychology. Her academic journey continued at St. Thomas University School of Law, earning her Juris Doctorate. During her time at law school, she served as a Certified Legal Intern for Legal Aid of Miami's family law division, sparking her profound interest and fervor for family law.

Over the past decade, Carolyn has dedicated her legal practice exclusively to family law. She began as a solo practitioner and later joined forces with her mentor, Katushca “Kathy” Grass, resulting in the establishment of the Grass | Reyes & Associates.

Throughout her career, Carolyn has stood as a representative for both male and female clients in divorce and paternity cases. She has also represented children when appointed by judges as a Guardian Ad Litem. Further enhancing her professional credentials, she is a certified Supreme Court Family law mediator. In this role, Carolyn assists parties in resolving their legal disputes through mediation, providing an alternative to court proceedings.

Apart from excelling in her professional endeavors, Carolyn is a dedicated mother to three sons. Her and her husband's commitment to providing a loving and supportive home life is a testament to her unwavering devotion to her family.

Furthermore, Carolyn leads a team at the firm that prides itself on being proficient in both English and Spanish. This bilingual capability not only enables them to effectively serve a diverse range of clients, but also reflects their commitment to inclusivity and accessibility. By offering services in both languages, Carolyn and her team ensure that language is not a barrier when it comes to providing top-notch assistance and support to their clients.

Sophia Wendt, Esq.

Associate Attorney

Sophia is a Miami Native. She graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a certificate in International Relations. Sophia continued her studies at the American University Washington College of Law, where she graduated Cum Laude. During her time in law school, Sophia was a student attorney for the American University Washington College of Law Gender Justice Clinic as a student attorney, where she represented clients in a wide range of cases including family law, immigration, public benefits, domestic violence, housing, wills/advance directives/probate, and other court, administrative and transactional matters – including cases that can’t be neatly categorized – with a focus on how clients’ gender, race, nationality, disability, and economic status affect their experiences in the legal system and within the lawyer-client relationship.

After receiving her JD, Sophia became a member of the Florida Bar. She is a member of the Family Law Section and Young Lawyers Division of the Florida Bar and a member of the Miami-Dade Bar Association.

When she is not working, Sophia is volunteering with the German American Social Club of Greater Miami supporting her German heritage. She currently sits on the board of directors for the organization.

Sophia is also fluent in Spanish.
